JOB SUMMARY:

The Bronx District Attorney is committed to serving the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community through the Office’s mission of “Pursuing Justice with Integrity” by fulfilling our duty to victims and providing fairness to defendants. The Community Affairs Unit is the critical connection between the District Attorney and the Bronx community .The Unit is responsible for community outreach efforts and developing and coordinating programs that engage and educate the residents of the Bronx.
 

The Deputy will share responsibilities with the Chief and Director and is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and facilitating the implementation of projects/events related to the Office's commitment to community relations and education.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
  • Assist and advise the Chief with planning, strategizing, and managing initiatives, priorities, and operations of the unit
  • Assess opportunities to expand external partnerships and community relations opportunities; write proposals for funding and program development
  • Supervise and manage Community Engagement Coordinators to ensure that staff successfully executes unit and agency-wide goals
  • Support planning and preparation for management meetings
  • Represent the Bronx DA at community meetings (Community Board, Precinct and civic meetings)
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, clergy, not-for-profit organizations, schools, etc. to develop programs, initiatives, and special projects.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records related to community relations activities
  • Create budgets for Community Affairs programs and events
  • Market events internally and externally to help engage members of the office with the community
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Chief
 

Note: Due to the necessary service needs of this position, the incumbent will be required to work evenings, nights, and weekends.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Masters or Doctorate in Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university required
  • A valid New York State driver’s license and a minimum of two years of driving experience is required; license must be maintained for the duration of employment
  • Experience in curricula creation and grant writing
  • Seven (7) or more years of community leadership or service; strong understanding of civic engagement
  • Experienced in project management and logistics
  • Bronx resident preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Excellent presentation, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Leads projects to completion with a strong focus on details
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Prezi, and Adobe Pro
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Multilingual preferred
