JOB SUMMARY:

Serve as a Case Aide performing administrative support for the Narcotics Bureau.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  2. Strong computer skills including familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office
  3. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Organize cases for the court calendar including collecting and delivering cases to specified courtrooms each morning and getting files ready for the daily calendar call no later than 9:15 AM
  2. Make sure that each case that is prepared for calendar call has a status sheet filled out by the Assistant District Attorney (ADA); in the event that there is no status sheet, create a new one
  3. File Orders to Produce, Statements of Readiness and motions with the court, all of which are time sensitive and must be addressed immediately
  4. Order transcription minutes from court reporters and order and receive Certificates of Disposition from the Central Clerk’s Office
  5. Prepare responses & File/Stamp the motion responses
  6. Deliver all grand jury minutes in a timely manner to the Central Clerk’s Office for judicial review
  7. Maintain all bench warrant and finished files housed in the bureau
  8. Locate and recreate folders in a timely fashion by physically visiting and requesting the files from those personnel who maintain them

11. Deliver all indictment paperwork in a timely manner to the Intake Bureau for filing

  1. Pick up and drop off documentary evidence and other related documents throughout the area including hospitals, law enforcement offices, and other prosecutorial agencies
  2. Pick up folders daily from 198 building and drop off cases daily to the Criminal Court Bureau
  3. All other duties as assigned

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma/GED 
  2. Prior work experience in a law firm, government office or civic or community organization preferred
  3. Familiarity with general court services and functions preferred
  4. Highly motivated and personally driven to produce and succeed in an environment that requires teamwork and

accountability

  1. A valid New York State driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years driving experience is preferred
  2. A team player and adaptable to changing priorities
