JOB SUMMARY:
The Lieutenant is a member of the Detective Investigators Bureau responsible for the supervision and management of a team of
investigators. The Lieutenant will supervise the daily activities of his team, coordinate with other supervisors and monitor the progress
of investigations. The Lieutenant is accountable to the Deputy Chiefs (D/C) and the Chief Detective Investigator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Daily Activity reports.
- Team Management.
- Case reviews.
- Status updates to the D/C and Chief Detective Investigator.
- Ability to access various computer databases.
- Ability to liaison with other law enforcement agencies and financial institutions
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise and coordinate work of employees engaged in investigations.
- Supervising staff and fieldwork, consisting of surveillance and undercover operations.
- Controls, coordinates and participates in varied and complex investigations.
- Correlates information gathered by investigators and evaluates it with the prosecutors.
- Conducts the most complex, sensitive and confidential investigations.
- Trains subordinates in specialized technical procedures and methods.
- Prepares reports and maintains necessary records on activities.
- Performs related work and all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/PREFERRED SKILLS:
years of full-time, paid experience as a Senior Rackets Investigator or four (4) years of full-time, paid experience as
a Rackets Investigator or satisfactory equivalent
16. A valid New York State driver’ license with a minimum of two (2) years driving experience is mandatory
17. Citizenship required
18. Three (3) year commitment to the hiring bureau.
20. Current or renewable New York State Municipal Police Training Certification is required
robberies and burglaries, major narcotics offenses, domestic violence, sex crimes, elder abuse, gangs, money laundering,
governmental fraud, white collar crimes, traditional organized crime activity and the use of state of the art electronic
investigative equipment
Note: Due to the nature of the work performed and the needs of the agency, incumbents may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
