JOB SUMMARY:

The Bronx District Attorney is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Deputy Chief of Trial Bureau 60. Under the direction of the Bureau Chief, the Deputy Bureau Chief will oversee day-to-day processing of felony and misdemeanor cases and provide supervision to the Bureau’s staff.
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Oversee and participate in the prosecution of felonies and misdemeanor criminal cases in Bronx County
2. Assign, evaluate and screen cases to determine appropriate action
3. Collaborate closely with the Bureau Chief to administer policy
4. Motivate and direct all levels of staff in various responsibilities
5. Understand and respond clearly and effectively (oral/written) to complex legal issues
6. Train staff on Federal and State statutory and case law regarding criminal procedure and penal law
7. Participate in meetings and conferences between the District Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies
8. Advise and assist legal staff in the handling of their assigned cases
9. Prepare case status and statistical reports, and address staff scheduling as required
10. Perform all other related duties and projects as designated

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of 5 years of trial experience and 2 years of prior supervisory/management experience preferred
2. Working knowledge of investigative methods
3. Excellent people skills and demeanor
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
5. Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
6. Excellent presentation and organizational skills
7. Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics
8. Ability to analytically solve issues or problems from inception through conclusion
9. US Citizenship and New York State Residency required
10. Member in good standing of the New York State Bar required
