JOB SUMMARY:
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced Database Administrator.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Installing and configure databases with license compliance in coordination with vendors and agency partners.
- Performing upgrades of the database and software to new release levels
- Managing the database's storage structures
- Managing users and security
- Managing schema objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, and procedures using PL/SQL and SSMS
- Write and optimize SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and analyze data.
- Ensure code efficiency, maintainability, and security.
- Making database backups and performing recovery when necessary
- Proactively monitoring the database's health and taking preventive or corrective action as required
- Responsible for database performance tuning
- Responsible for database troubleshooting
- Coordinating with appropriate teams to ensure operational effectiveness of databases and apply database, OS, and security patches.
- Perform all other related duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A baccalaureate degree, from an accredited college or high school diploma and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
- Must have at least three years’ experience as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) on 10g, 11g, 12c, or 19c with strong knowledge of Oracle Data Guard or RMAN backup.
- Experience with System administration or Microsoft SQL database installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Azure or/and AWS is a plus.
- Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent technical “documentation” writing skills.
- Candidate should possess analytical and problem-solving skills, a sense of responsibility, and an ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with vendors.
- Strong project management skills in a team-oriented environment
Note: Those serving in comparable civil service titles will also be considered.
