JOB SUMMARY:
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.3 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Domestic Violence Bureau of the Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced attorney (4+ years) to serve as a supervisor of attorneys. Reporting to the Deputy Bureau and Bureau Chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau, the supervisor will aid in the day-to-day oversight of the prosecution of cases and supervision of its staff.
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise legal and support staff in the prosecution of cases in the Domestic Violence Bureau
  • Assign, evaluate and screen cases to determine appropriate action
  • Cover 24 hour weekly on call for DV Felony Duty on a rotating basis with other DV Managers
  • Aid in the operation of the DV Complaint Unit as needed
  • Collaborate with Bureau Chief, Deputy Bureau Chief, and other Supervisors to administer policy
  • Train staff on Federal and State statutory and case law regarding criminal procedure and penal law, as well as Domestic Violence related issues and prosecution methods
  • Liaise with Bronx Family Justice Center, Crime Victim’s Assistance Unit Advocates, EVE Advocates, the New York City Police Department, and other BXDA partners and those in the field of Domestic Violence to ensure consistency in case processing/drafting and accessibility to victim services
  • Prepare statistical reports and address staff scheduling as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Juris Doctorate degree required
  • Admission to the New State Bar required.
  • US Citizenship and New York State Residency are required from first day of employment.
  • 4+ years of trial experience or the equivalent and prior management experience preferred
  • Excellent people skills and demeanor
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics
  • Ability to analytically solve issues or problems from inception through conclusion
