   JOB SUMMARY:

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office seeks a Unit Chief to oversee the Crime Strategies Unit (“CSU”), within the Strategic Enforcement and Intergovernmental Relations Division. Reporting to the Deputy Division Chief of the Strategic Enforcement and Intergovernmental Relations Division, the Chief serves as the leader of the unit, overseeing the day-to-day operations, strategy development, and management of staff.

The primary responsibility of CSU is to serve as the intelligence and crime prevention arm for the Bronx District Attorney’s Office. More specifically, the unit works with internal and external stakeholders, including the New York City Police Department, other state, local and federal agencies, government agencies, and community organizations to develop and implement strategies that reduce crime, especially violent crime, and improve public safety. The Crime Strategies Unit harnesses innovative technologies, data science, and other information sharing techniques that promote the gathering and dissemination of actionable intelligence across the Office and the larger criminal justice system.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Develops and implements intelligence-driven prosecution strategies that reduce crime in the Bronx
  2. Serves as the liaison between the Office and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, government agencies, and other organizations
  3. Directs, manages and supervises crime analysts responsible for collecting, analyzing, summarizing and disseminating criminal intelligence data gathered from a variety of sources
  4. Conducts presentations and prepares briefings for the District Attorney, Executive Staff, city, state and federal officials, and others to provide a comprehensive analysis of Bronx County and regional crime trends
  5. Meets regularly with interdisciplinary stakeholders to coordinate information sharing and public safety strategy implementation
  6. Coordinates with internal and external partners to respond to community crime concerns


Preferred Education and Experience/Qualifications:
  1. US Citizenship required
  2. New York State residency required
  3. A Juris Doctorate degree
  4. 7+ years of experience as a prosecutor or in a law enforcement capacity
  5. 2 years of management and/or supervisory experience preferred
  6. Experience working in either intelligence-driven prosecution, a crime strategies unit, or other law enforcement intelligence field
