Description

 JOB SUMMARY:

  Provide administrative support for the bureau in the courtroom while interacting with Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs), Judges, and court staff.

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with court staff and judges
  2. Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  3. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
  5. Discretion and Integrity to work on highly confidential investigations

 

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Input and retrieve data regarding Trial Bureau motions.
  2. Receive, log and distribute Trial Bureau motions.
  3. Track bureau motion responses.
  4. Serve court orders to produce and subpoenas and mail responses to defense attorneys.
  5. Prepare affidavits of mailing for all bureau motion responses.
  6. Transport case files to and from the courtroom.
  7. Maintain all forms, and telephone directories for ADA'S to use in the court part.
  8. Assist ADA's in the making phone calls to obtain files, documents and witness information.
  9. Assist in the operation of courtroom in anyway possible.
  10. Preparation of discovery for defense attorneys.
  11. Assist in ordering original paperwork.
  12. Go to various law enforcement agencies, hospital to retrieve documents.
  13. Download 911 and Sprint reports
  14. Cover front desk reception: Answer, screen and direct all incoming calls to all Trial Bureau
  15. Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

 PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. An Associate’s degree preferred or a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a law firm, governmental agency, civic or community organization
  2. A valid New York State driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment
  3. Ability to take initiative to implement systems to ensure that work is done both accurately and efficiently
