JOB SUMMARY:
Provide administrative support for the bureau in the courtroom while interacting with Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs), Judges, and court staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with court staff and judges
- Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Discretion and Integrity to work on highly confidential investigations
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Input and retrieve data regarding Trial Bureau motions.
- Receive, log and distribute Trial Bureau motions.
- Track bureau motion responses.
- Serve court orders to produce and subpoenas and mail responses to defense attorneys.
- Prepare affidavits of mailing for all bureau motion responses.
- Transport case files to and from the courtroom.
- Maintain all forms, and telephone directories for ADA'S to use in the court part.
- Assist ADA's in the making phone calls to obtain files, documents and witness information.
- Assist in the operation of courtroom in anyway possible.
- Preparation of discovery for defense attorneys.
- Assist in ordering original paperwork.
- Go to various law enforcement agencies, hospital to retrieve documents.
- Download 911 and Sprint reports
- Cover front desk reception: Answer, screen and direct all incoming calls to all Trial Bureau
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate’s degree preferred or a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a law firm, governmental agency, civic or community organization
- A valid New York State driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment
- Ability to take initiative to implement systems to ensure that work is done both accurately and efficiently
