 JOB SUMMARY:

 The Bronx Early Victim Engagement (EVE) Project aims to contact complainant/witnesses in domestic violence cases immediately after the defendant has interacted with the criminal justice system. The Supervising Arraignment Victim Liaison (AVLS) will be a member of the Office Crime Victims Advocate Unit (CVAU) and the Special Victims Division, and will report directly to the Director or Deputy Director of CVAU. The AVLS will head a team of three, and be responsible for supervising two Arraignment Victim Liaisons (AVLs) in accomplishing the mission and goals of the Bronx EVE Project. The AVLS will work closely with other members of CVAU, the Office’s Domestic Violence (DV) Bureau, the Bronx Family Justice Center (BxFJC), and the EVE Project Director at the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence (MOCDV).

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Candidates must be highly skilled in standard operating systems and software (Windows, Microsoft Office).
  2. Ability to maintain a strict order of confidentiality and handle issues in a discreet manner
  3. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  4. Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  5. Detail oriented
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

 

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Supervise two (2) Arraignment Victim Liaisons (AVLs) in accomplishing the mission and goals of the Bronx EVE Project
  2. Work closely with the EVE Project Director at the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence.
  3. Work closely with Arraignment Staff in the Bronx DA’s Office and the Office of Court Administration.
  4. Create and implement Schedules, including coverage for nights and weekends.
  5. Ensure that all incoming domestic violence case files are reviewed and important case information is highlighted and communicated to the arraignment prosecutor.
  6. Help develop and implement a system for the EVE Project team to contact victims both pre and post Arraignment.
  7. Post-arraignment, members of the EVE Project team must make multiple telephone calls to reach each victim to provide them with the bail conditions, information regarding Orders of Protection, and any other important criminal case information.
  8. During these phone calls, members of the EVE Project team must provide accurate criminal justice information, supportive listening, and linkage to CVAU and/or the BxFJC.
  9. Work closely with the DV Bureau to help create effective communication systems between the EVE Project team and Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs).
  10. Ensure that all information into BXDA’s Office electronic EVE database is being inputted accurately and appropriately.
  11. Responsible for accurate and comprehensive monthly data reports.
  12. Schedule and preside over regular EVE Project Team meetings.
  13. Attend and participate in other intra-Agency and inter-Agency meetings.
  14. Other tasks as requested by the supervisory staff of CVAU, DV, or the EVE Project Director at MOCDV.

 

 PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

     21. Baccalaureate degree and or work experience in a law firm, law enforcement agency, government agency, civic or
    community organization
and Five (5) years of related experience preferred.

Ability to handle multiple challenging assignments, detailed oriented with superior organizational, analytical, writing and
    communication skills.

    23. Willingness to learn, and a proven or developing commitment to working with victims of domestic violence in a sensitive and
    non-judgmental way

    24. Bilingual preferred

 

**Due to the necessary service needs of this position, the selected candidates will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
