JOB SUMMARY:
The Administrative Supervisor will lead and manage the non-legal staff and provide complex administrative support for the Homicide Bureau

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
7. Work closely with the Bureau Chief, Deputy Chief and Supervising Assistant District Attorney’s (ADA)
on Administrative matters, including the assignment and record-keeping of cases and investigations,
mail distribution and ordering supplies.
8. Supervise the non-legal staff of Homicide Bureau; oversee duties and responsibilities of each staff
member; monitor time and leave request; complete quarterly evaluations for new employees and
annual evaluations for the others.
9. Liaison for all law enforcement agencies: in depth coordination with Office of Chief Medical Examiner
(OCME): Ordering and following up on Medical examiner’s paperwork (death certificates, autopsy
reports, etc) - In Manhattan and Bronx County. Including City of New York Vital records and
maintaining a record of it.
10. Ensure staff is trained in proper office Bureau procedure and policies
11. Order and following up on NYPD paperwork
12. Keep statistical reports on homicide body counts and cold cases
13. Maintain a record of all cold cases discussed and arrest reports
14. Maintain records and physical copies of all homicide related subpoenas, court orders, search
warrants.
15. Collection and proper disposition of all records and property retrieved as a result of subpoena and
court orders issued
16. Order all reports (autopsies, death certificates) and evidence from OCME and keeping records
17. Prepare and serve witnesses and Police Officer appearance notifications. Explain procedures of the
trial/court process.
18. Help family members of deceased, by assisting them to get answers to their inquiries and if needed
refer to crime victims for relocation and further assistance.
19. Primary contact for special Category witnesses (inmates, cooperators, juveniles) and liaison with
various agencies involved both pre and post-trial such as OCME, NYPD, US Marshals and Other City
Agencies.
20. Arrange appointments for witnesses to come in to discuss case with the ADA
21. Arrange all necessary paperwork needed by the family (parole board letters, registration)
22. Serve as liaison to the Executive Staff in communications to the Bureau Chief and others.
23. Perform all other related duties and projects as assigned
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
24. Bachelor’s degree preferred or a High School diploma/GED and prior work experience in a law
firm, governmental agency, civic or community organization.
25. Two (2) to Three (3) years of prior supervisory experience preferred.
26. Ability to work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced environment.
27. Familiarity with general court services and functionalities
