Description

JOB SUMMARY:

To manage the Bronx District Attorney’s Office’s (BXDA) payroll functions, ensuring compliance with all BXDA’s policies and procedures, and federal, city and state laws. To use NYC’s payroll management systems and various agency level payroll controls.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Directs District Attorney's on the data entry of PMS transactions.

  2. Provides Payroll and supervision to Payroll Assistant on all payroll operations.

  3. Ability to utilize strong communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the agency

  4. Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel

  5. Strong attention to detail, deadlines, confidentiality and organization

  6. Solid basic math skills

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  7. Analyzes, documents, and data enters payroll related transactions into NYC Payroll and Timekeeping systems

  8. Ensures accuracy of payroll transactions in light of NYC and Agency guidelines

  9. Resolves payroll questions for employees

  10. Provides payroll orientation for new employees

  11. Manages payroll check activity

  12. Attend all payroll or administrative meetings speak , represent and present appropriate information

  13. All other duties as assigned

     

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  14. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Finance or related field OR four (4) years of professional experience, including 18 month of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience.

  15. Three (3) years of prior work experience in payroll and/or timekeeping a must.

  16. Candidate should possess a strong knowledge of the Civil Service system
