JOB SUMMARY:

The Bronx District Attorney is seeking an experienced attorney (10+ years) with extensive, recent experience with the use of court-authorized eavesdropping and other forms of electronic surveillance focusing on complex investigations to be the Bureau Chief of the Special Investigations Bureau.The Bureau Chief is responsible for overseeing, supervising and directing all investigations conducted by the Special Investigations Bureau, which include investigations into narcotics trafficking, firearms trafficking, violent gangs, economic crimes involving fraud and tax evasion, and racketeering.  The Bureau Chief is also responsible for reviewing and assessing the legal sufficiency of all eavesdropping warrant applications, including those that are drafted by other bureaus and by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Forging and maintaining strong working relationships with various state, local and federal law enforcement agencies.
• Communicating across multiple levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
• Conducting in-depth case reviews and conferences.
• Understanding and responding clearly and effectively (oral/written) to complex legal issues.
• Strong legal writing skills.
• Working cooperatively with a large and diverse staff.
• Participating in training for office personnel and outside agencies.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • US Citizenship
  • New York State residency required as of first day of employment
  • A Juris Doctorate degree
  • Significant trial experience including, but not limited to, trials involving enterprise corruption, large-scale narcotics operations, firearm trafficking, gangs and fraud cases.
  • A firm grasp of Criminal Procedure Law Articles 700, 705, 690, the Stored Communications Act, and federal reporting requirements for court-authorized eavesdropping.
  • Outstanding management and supervisory skills
  • Excellent people skills and demeanor
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel Excellent presentation and organizational skills
  • Strong business planning and forecasting skills
  • Strong presentation and organizational skills
