Job Summary

The District Attorney is seeking a Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer (CDEIO) to join her executive team and lead the creation and execution of the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative. The Bronx County District Attorney’s Office has a staff whose diverse background and talent reflects an ability to serve over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community through our groundbreaking mission of “Pursuing Justice with Integrity” by fulfilling our duty to victims and providing fairness to defendants. The CDEIO will report directly to the District Attorney and serve as a leader on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and policies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assess the diversity, equity and inclusion needs of the office by working collaboratively with the District Attorney, management, Human Resources, Recruitment, and staff.
  • Create a diversity, equity and inclusion strategic plan with goals for hiring, retention, and promoting talent.
  • Lead office-wide training, programs, and events to promote a culture of respect and inclusion.
  • Develop and translate metrics for reporting and to ensure accountability by tracking and monitoring diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Attend, participate in, and represent the Office at relevant conferences, meetings and other programs in order to develop and implement best practices and trends for an inclusive and equitable Office.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with 4+ years management/supervisory experience in a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing a comprehensive diversity, equity and inclusion program
  • Demonstrated success identifying, developing, and implementing diversity, equity and inclusion best practices
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning, and communications skills that build and sustain effective working relationships at all levels of the Office, as well as in community engagement and external organizations
  • Excellent creative skills, critical thinking, judgment and discretion
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills, evidenced by submission of a relevant writing sample
  • Commitment to professional growth and pursuing justice with integrity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor or advanced degree
  • Experience in criminal justice, government agencies, non-profit organizations or prosecutorial offices
  • Conflict resolution and/or mediation skills

 

Salary to be determined commensurate with experience.  Post until filled.
