Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking to hire a Reentry Coordinator to enhance the office’s efforts to reduce recidivism, particularly violence, among formerly incarcerated people. The incumbent will assist in developing and executing the Bronx DA’s Office’s Reentry portfolio, which aims to improve services for Bronx Reentrants employment/training, housing, mentoring, and other social services.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  2. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  4. Discretion and Integrity to work on highly confidential information.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Develop and maintain expertise on community organizations, services, government resources and other assets available to assist reentrants.
  2. Assist with planning and moderating the monthly Bronx Reentry Collaborative.
  3. Participate in Bronx Reentry Taskforce Meetings.
  4. Connect Reentry Collaborative participants to resources and follow up with program referrals.
  5. Assist community and law enforcement agencies in implementation of tangible solutions to reentry process.
  6. Educate and advise internal leadership on reentry related issues.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned to support the Strategic Enforcement and Intergovernmental Relations Division.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required.
  2. Working knowledge of reentry process and New York State prison systems required.
  3. Superior organizational, writing and communication skills, along with creative problem-solving abilities are essential.
  4. Familiarity with incarcerated populations preferred.
  5. Previous criminal justice involvement and/or experience reentering after prison preferred.
  6. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  7. Bilingual Spanish speaking ability a plus.
