Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The coordinator will meet with various Bronx College/University Staff to discuss what prevention, education and direct services the Crime Victims Assistance Unit’s Rape Crisis Prevention Program can offer to colleges/universities to assist them be in compliance with the Enough is Enough legislation.  Once an MOU/Agreement has been agreed upon, the coordinator will be responsible to coordinate and provide sessions and or workshops to: campus police; resident hall staff; student services staff and all other faculty; students; and student clubs/groups on preventing sexual assault and intimate partner violence, what constitutes sexual assault and intimate partner abuse, how and who to report these crimes and what services are available to victims/survivors.  The coordinator reports directly to the Program Director.
                                                 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  2. Strong ability to multi-task
  3. Ability to both interact and be comfortable with a diverse population
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
     
    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  5. Reach out and meet with Bronx Colleges/Universities
  6. Conduct preventative and education sessions for students and faculty
  7. Maintains contact with college/university staff
  8. Meets with and provide services to victims
  9. Escorts and helps victims navigate through the criminal justice process
  10. Advocates and provide referrals for other needed services
  11. Assist and participates in campus events and special projects
  12. Field work required
  13. Prepares and manages case data and reports to funder
  14. All other duties as assigned
     
    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  15. A baccalaureate degree preferred and/or an advanced degree
  16. A valid New York State driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment
  17. Prior experience providing primary prevention sessions preferred
  18. Understanding of bystander intervention curriculum preferred
     
     Note: Due to the necessary service needs of this position, the incumbent will be required to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends.
